The piece shown is a in Oregon black walnut, 24" w x 18" d x 24" tall

Solid hardwood nightstand in Oregon black walnut or eastern walnut. The grain of the boards wraps around the corners, creating a continuous "waterfall" effect. The corner miters are reinforced internally with slot tenons, and the base is constructed using mortise and tenon joinery. The drawer box is made of solid maple for a nice interior contrast. Soft-close Blum under-mount drawer slides work smoothly and effortlessly.

The bottom edge of the drawer front is hand shaped to the live edge profile, with a relief on the backside to provide an easy grip for opening the drawer.

On walnut type--eastern walnut is by far the most common type of walnut. If you are matching to existing walnut furniture, most likely it is made of eastern walnut. Eastern walnut has a more consistent grain, and is mostly brown with occasional streaks of lighter sapwood. Oregon black walnut (aka claro walnut/western walnut) is much more varied in grain and color. There may be more character (such as knots, feather grain and figure), a more reddish brown color, and several secondary tones in the wood. It is much less predictable from board to board, and much more unique. If this will not be matching an existing walnut piece/fixture, and you want a piece with lots of character, Oregon black walnut is the way to go.
